Lars Boom loses leading jersey, but looks forward to tomorrow

Lars Boom ended-up seventeenth in the sixth stage of the BinckBank Tour. Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s 31-year-old-rider started in the leaders jersey after his stage win yesterday, but couldn’t keep it today. Boom is now seventh in the general classification.

Lars Boom regrets he lost the leaders jersey. “But I rode as fast as possible”, he stated. “It was difficult from the beginning. So I have to thank my teammates. They helped me during the whole stage. However, I couldn’t keep up with the favourites during the first passage in Houffalize. I tried my best afterwards, but I couldn’t return. Despite that, I can’t blame myself anything.”

The sixth stage suited Lars Boom less. “I’m not a climber. The climbs were too long for me today, so it was a very hard stage for me. I’m convinced that the next stage suits me better. I like the Muur van Geraardsbergen very well.”

Furthermore, Boom won already the fifth stage in the BinckBank Tour. “Of course, that’s great. Nevertheless, I regret my victory salute. It was a bad example for the kids. I’m disappointed that I won’t be in the Vuelta, but I’m very happy with my stage win in the BinckBank Tour.”
