Nice to meet you: Bert-Jan Lindeman
Team LottoNL-Jumbo welcomes some new riders for 2015 who we’d like our fans to get to know. Today we’ll introduce you to Bert-Jan Lindeman.
Born: June16, 1989
Nationality: Dutch
How did your career begin?
“When I was seven years old, my parents made me choose a sport. That wasn’t difficult for me. Pantani, Armstrong and Ullrich were racing, and they were heroes to me. I was quite individualistic and for me, bike racing was a real way out and a great way to burnenergy. Highlights are my victories in the Ster van Zwolle and the Tour of Drenthe, races are near my hometown. When Vacansoleil pulled the plug, I signed for the Rabobank Development Team, which meant a step backwards. I remained positive, however, and luckily I was able to prove myself. It ended up winning the Tour de l’Ain, which is one of the reasons that I’m now part of Team LottoNL-Jumbo.”
Is there something we don’t already know about you?
“If I have some spare time, I like to go fishing. Carp fishing to be precise. That gives me inner peace. I like simply being able to relax with friends along the waterside. During the season, however, my days are dedicated to cycling.”
How are your ice-skating skills?
“I like to watch ice-skating, especially now we are one team with Jac Orie and his skaters. I already know Sven Kramer a little. He used to cycle with my brother. Maybe I’m going to check out an ice-skating race, but cycling remains the most importantthing for me. I’m on this team to do well on the bike.”

What is your lucky charm?“
Cycling. It’s fantastic that I get to do what I like for a living, to ride finals and fight for victories.”
What does your shopping basket normally contain?
“There’s always a lot of bread in my basket. I really like bread. I love a sandwich with chicken breast, pesto and Philadelphia. Jumbo has tasty fish and good meat. I often cook for myself, and I’m good at it. Food is a passion for me. I like cake and chocolate, but of course, I do not eat that very often.”
