Roglic sixth with one time trial to go in Romandie

After the Queen stage in the Tour of Romandie, Primoz Roglic sits sixth overall. In the stage to Leysin, Simon Yates was the fastest and Roglic finished in the chasing group 11th. Yates becomes leader and Roglic drops one spot to place sixth in the overall standings.

"It was good weather at last and it was really a queen stage," said Roglic after finishing. "We did what we had to do. As a team we were constantly in the right position and every rider fulfilled his duties well. We must be happy with that."

On the final climb, Australian Richie Porte jumped to Yates, who attacked earlier. Together they fought for victory and it was Yates who took the stage win.

"Unfortunately, I did not have the legs to jump with Porte, but I was happy to follow the others."

Roglic finished 11th, 52 seconds off the winner. In the rankings, Yates is the new leader, and Porte and Emanuel Buchmann also are ahead of Roglic.

The final time trial stage will decide the race. The plan for tomorrow is clear.

"Tomorrow is a new day, now we'll recover well and explore the course tomorrow morning. After that I have to ride the 17 kilomtres as hard as possible. That's all I can do about it.

Grischa Niermann

"It was a difficult stage and they went really fast,' explained Sports Director Grischa Niermann of the 163-kilometre queen stage. "The plan was well executed. At the foot of the last climb, Jurgen Van den Broeck put Robert Gesink and Primoz in a good possition and the rest of the team did their duties in the preparatory work."

"Porte is clearly stronger and took a little more time than we hoped. Overtaking 35 seconds on Richie Porte will be difficult tomorrow, but Primoz is okay and ready to ride a good time trial tomorrow. So there are plenty of opportunities."

Tolhoek and Lobato

At the start of the stage, Team LottoNL-Jumbo lost one of its riders. Antwan Tolhoek was sick and had to stop the race.

"Antwan fell sick last night, but tried today. Soon we saw that he had no power," said Niermann.
