Roglic in excellent starting position for time trial Vuelta al Pais Vasco

Team LottoNL-Jumbo and team leader Primoz Roglic have finished the third stage in the Vuelta al Pais Vasco without any problems. The 28-year-old Slovenian finished in the peloton, lost no extra time and remains second in the overall standings at eight seconds from leader Alaphilippe. This means that Roglic has a good starting position for tomorrow’s flat time trial. Today’s stage from Bermeo to Valdegovia finished in a bunch sprint. Enrico Battaglin finished in tenth place.

The third stage was far from easy with a couple of climbs and harsh weather conditions. Sports director Grischa Niermann saw his team came through the day well and unharmed, but he had hoped for an easier day. “It was tough with lots of wind and a couple of showers. The stage unfolded as expected and the guys protected Primoz perfectly. I had hoped for an easier day to save some guys for the tough stages yet to come.”

“Tomorrow it’s up to Primoz”, Niermann continued. “The time trial is flat and normally Primoz should gain time advantage on his competitors here. In any case, we have seen he’s in excellent shape.”
