Jansen just outside top ten in soaked Bretagne Classic

Amund Grondahl Jansen has finished just outside the top ten in a soaked Bretagne Classic. Jansen was third in the peloton sprint for tenth place and finished twelfth.

The French WorldTour race was affected by heavy showers. Koen Bouwman was part of the early breakway and was later joined by Pascal Eenkhoorn. Bouwman punctured at a bad moment and as a result, his chance on a good result was ruined. Eenkhoorn dropped on the Ty Marrec, just before heading into the final lap.

“I’m happy that I’ve been able to get such a result in a WorldTour classic again”, Jansen said. “I would have liked to have achieved my first top ten result in a WorldTour race, but a few riders were faster than me. I didn’t feel great today, but I knew the course suited me. So I counted on the sprint. After my bad crash in the BinckBankTour, I’m happy that I’m able to do this again.”

“I had a very good day and I was part of the leading group that battled for the victory”, Bouwman said. “I punctured at a very bad time. That’s very unfortunate. The team has done very well today. So it’s a pity that we weren’t rewarded with a top result.”
